ControlAP
Usage Scenarios:
- Basic Captive Portal: Welcome
or "Splash" page before allowing free access.
Also known as a captive portal
(user destination is redirected to your
hotspot web page). This is the simplest scenario and is ready out of
the
box with the Free Trial and Standard Editions consisting of a
web page with a button to continue. An acceptable
usage policy can be added here. Web
page content can be customized locally or with the web administrator. You
can optionally add username/password access for the whole site. One can also add individual username and
passwords for any number of users (not available with the free trial
edition)
- Pre-Pay
(Pay at the Counter): Provide a session limit by allowing user to enter
any username.
Internet
cafes and storefronts can limit or bill for access
to the internet and provide an initial free session. When
a user requires more time he or she can pay at the counter using the
existing POS software for billing and the cashier would then add
additional time to the user's session using the web based ControlAP
management interface.
Benefits:
- Eliminates the issue of forgotten usernames and
passwords.
- Encourages users otherwise reluctant to enter
credit card information online to pay at the counter.
-
Credit Card Billing Support and pre-paid access code tickets with
ControlAP Plus and Pro:
You
can generate revenue out of the box with ControlAP Plus usign
Mediatracker's Hotspot Billing system where you initially get
%100 of the revenue until you 've made up the initial purchase of
ControlAP (so there's no risk) afterwhich you keep %75 of
the revenue. OR you can indefintely keep %100 of the
revenue (and determine your own prices) using ControlAP Pro.

New for all scenarios: Generate
additional revenue with ads (or provide free access provided by ad
revenue). Have an ad appear every so often by forcing a
redirection to a URL. Can also be used to send custom
messages to all your users. Charge more to advertisers because users
are forcibly redirected (unlike pop-up ads which can be blocked). The
URL can point to an ad server.

Note that the three windows are shown on the same desktop but can run
on separate machines.
